Softball Game Preview: Barnwell Warhorses vs. South Aiken Thoroughbreds

The Barnwell Warhorses will face off against the South Aiken Thoroughbreds at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Barnwell nor South Aiken posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Barnwell's offense. They fell 3-0 to Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Tuesday.

Jaidyn Devore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Barnwell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall O'Berry, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, South Aiken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Gray Collegiate Academy, falling 13-0.

Barnwell's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for South Aiken, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

South Aiken's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Barnwell has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. It's a different story for South Aiken, though, as they've only averaged .335. Will they be able to contain Barnwell's hitters?

Barnwell took their victory against South Aiken in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 14-4. Will Barnwell repeat their success, or does South Aiken has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
