Baseball Recap: Glendale Wins Going Away Against Cortez

Glendale lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cortez, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's match. The Cardinals blew past the Colts 16-2 on Monday. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered an 8-6 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jose Miranda looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Glendale: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 5-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Leonardo Raygoza was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Glendale is 5-2 when Raygoza posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of David Ortiz, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Glendale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Glendale and bumps their season record up to 8-10. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Cortez, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-20-1.

As of now, neither Glendale nor the Colts have any future games scheduled.
