Baseball Recap: Coronado Comes Up Short

Coronado and Americas squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Coronado had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Trail Blazers by a score of 4-3. The Mustangs have struggled against the Trail Blazers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Matt Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Coronado saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bodie Pope, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 22-12. As for Americas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.

Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Americas, they will challenge Colleyville Heritage on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trail Blazers 2.6, the Panthers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
