Soccer Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Golden Valley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Downey Knights by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 459th, while the Knights are ranked 132nd).

Golden Valley's goal came courtesy of Eduardo Gonzalez, which was the first he's scored this season.

Golden Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Downey, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which somehow still isn't as good as their 14-4 record this season.

Golden Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Downey, they will square off against Rocklin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
