Basketball Recap: Wildwood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Pennsville Memorial last Wednesday, Wildwood came back down to earth. The Wildwood Warriors lost 73-49 to the Pitman Panthers on Friday. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 75-51 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Wildwood lost, don't look at Nolan Mawhinney. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points and six rebounds. Those six boards gave Mawhinney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brian Cunniff, who had eight points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Wildwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pitman, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Wildwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-15 victory against Cape May County Tech on the 22nd. As for Pitman, they will head out to face off against Eastern at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
