Boone Grove has gone 6-1 against Kouts recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wolves will head out to challenge the Mustangs & Fillies at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Boone Grove got the win against Kankakee Valley by a conclusive 3-0. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Kougars: they've now won four in a row.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Boone Grove took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-6, 25-15.
Boone Grove's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ryder McCoy, who had 13 digs and three aces, and Max Pollnow, who had four aces and three digs. Those four aces gave Pollnow a new career-high.
They weren't the only good server: Boone Grove was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Kouts posted their closest win since March 11, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Valparaiso.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-98) Kouts actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 12-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-12.
The win got Kouts back to even at 1-1. As for Boone Grove, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Boone Grove took their win against Kouts in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
