New Palestine is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Shelbyville: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Dragons blew the Golden Bears out of the water with a 65-3 final score. Jacob Davis had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 158 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. Those 158 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Jacobia, who rushed for 56 yards and one TD.
New Palestine's run defense was locked in: Shelbyville could only muster 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Sam Hirschy for the heroic effort on defense: he. New Palestine didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.9.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Castle). They claimed a resounding 57-28 victory over Mt. Vernon. The Trojans pushed the score to 49-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Marauders had little chance of recovering from.
New Palestine better keep an eye on Tylin Thrine. He was instrumental in New Castle's win, rushing for 127 yards and four touchdowns, while also picking up 41 receiving yards and one score. Luke Sherrell was another key player, rushing for 101 yards and one TD.
New Palestine's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for New Castle, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for New Palestine against New Castle in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-6 win. In that contest, the Dragons amassed a halftime lead of 38-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
