Lawrence Free State came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Shawnee Mission South Raiders on the board, marking their second-straight 1-0 shutout. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Firebirds also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.

Lawrence Free State's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Shawnee Mission South, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawrence Free State will venture away from home to challenge Olathe Northwest on Thursday. As for Shawnee Mission South, they will head out to face off against St. James Academy on Wednesday.
