Basketball Preview: Liberty County Bulldogs vs. Vernon Yellowjackets
After both having extra time off, the Liberty County Bulldogs and the Vernon Yellowjackets will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Liberty County's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Vernon has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Liberty County came up short against Franklin County and fell 51-41. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite their defeat, Liberty County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Matthew Lollie, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Lollie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Haupt, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Vernon didn't have quite enough to beat Wewahitchka last Thursday and fell 40-37. While the Yellowjackets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Gators 13-2 in the first quarter.
Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Liberty County, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.
Everything went Liberty County's way against Vernon in their previous meeting back in January, as Liberty County made off with a 64-43 win. Does Liberty County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vernon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
