Baseball Recap: Saguaro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Marcos de Niza last Wednesday, Saguaro came back down to earth. The Sabercats fell 8-5 to the St. Mary's Knights on Tuesday. Sabercats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Knights since on Tuesday.

Saguaro got a good showing from AJ Busseri, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Busseri hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Saguaro saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Miiller, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Zander Bratspis was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Saguaro's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11-1. As for St. Mary's, they moved to 14-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Saguaro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
