Basketball Recap: Grovemont Takes a Loss

Grovemont lost against South Wake back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The game between the Grovemont Spartans and the South Wake Sabres didn't end well, with the Grovemont Spartans falling 64-47. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Sabres are ranked 209th).

Noah Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Wake, putting up 19 points. Wright's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawson Jurgens, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Grovemont now has a losing record at 7-8. As for South Wake, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grovemont will take on DASH at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Wake, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Durham Flight HomeSchool at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in South Wake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten contests.
