Softball Recap: South Bend Riley Has No Trouble Against Northridge

South Bend Riley lost to Northridge back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Raiders.

ELLIANA GONZALES made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. GONZALES was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on LUCY FRANKO, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was GISELA GARCIA, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

South Bend Riley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only posted an OBP of .409.

South Bend Riley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Northridge, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

South Bend Riley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-0 win against Wawasee on the 1st. As for Northridge, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th.
