Softball Game Preview: Sharpsville Blue Devils vs. West Middlesex Big Reds

Sharpsville has gone 9-1 against West Middlesex recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Big Reds at 4:00 p.m. Sharpsville will be strutting in after a victory while West Middlesex will be coming in after a defeat.

Sharpsville proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Wilmington 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Greyhounds: they've now won four in a row.

Maddison Sump made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Sump wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dava Masters, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for West Middlesex's offense. They lost 16-0 to Saegertown on Monday. The Big Reds haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

West Middlesex's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Sharpsville, their record now sits at 4-8.

Sharpsville might still be hurting after the 13-2 defeat they got from West Middlesex in their previous matchup on April 8th. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
