Soccer Game Preview: Palm Desert vs. Great Oak

The Palm Desert Aztecs will be taking part in a tournament against the Great Oak Wolfpack at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Palm Desert picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They beat Chaffey by a goal, winning 2-1.

Meanwhile, Great Oak had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Tigers out 3-2. Given the Wolfpack's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Tigers are ranked 685th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Great Oak hit Chaffey with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kai Mcdaniel, Riley Stein, and Isaiah Carbajal.

Great Oak has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five games. As for Palm Desert, the win got them back to even at 5-5-2.
