Baseball Recap: Rodriguez Beats Armijo for Their Sixth Straight Win

Rodriguez extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping their season record up to 14-7 in the process. They put the hurt on the Armijo Royals with a sharp 8-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Jackson Kolakoski tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sean O'Connell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Ben Vaughn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

As for Armijo, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8-1. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but Rodriguez's pitchers proved too tough.

On Armijo's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Uscanga, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rodriguez will welcome Vacaville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Armijo, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against West Campus at 4:00 p.m. The Royals are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
