Basketball Recap: Vega Comes Up Short

Vega and Farwell squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Vega had to settle for second. They were dealt a 68-34 defeat at the hands of the Farwell Steers. The loss continues a trend for the Longhorns in their matchups with the Steers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Farwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makylee Baldwin, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 21 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The game was Baldwin's 12th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Landri Richey, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Vega's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Farwell, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 32-3.

Vega does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Farwell, they will take on Christoval on Monday. Farwell knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Christoval likes a good challenge.
