Basketball Recap: Polytechnic Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Polytechnic picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Foothill Tech Dragons. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Dragons are ranked 964th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Foothill Tech's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Nick Turner, who posted 22 points and three steals, and Ashton Brown, who earned 12 points and five assists. Those five assists gave Brown a new career-high.

The win made it two in a row for Polytechnic and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Foothill Tech, their record now sits at 5-10.

Polytechnic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-46 loss against Arroyo Grande on the 23rd. As for Foothill Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-44 defeat against Santa Ynez on the 23rd.
