Baseball Game Preview: Palatine Pirates vs. Elk Grove Grenadiers

The Palatine Pirates will head out to square off against the Elk Grove Grenadiers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Palatine will be strutting in after a win while Elk Grove will be coming in after a loss.

Palatine is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Schaumburg on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The win was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

The team relied heavily on Carter Monroe, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peter Mulhern, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elk Grove lost 9-3 to Prospect on Wednesday. The Grenadiers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elk Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myles Schwartz, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Palatine's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Elk Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.

Palatine came out on top in a nail-biter against Elk Grove in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
