Softball Recap: Porter Comes Up Short

If Porter was feeling good fresh off their 8-2 takedown of Tuloso-Midway on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Porter Spartans fell just short of the Santa Fe Indians by a score of 5-4 on Friday.

Avery Evans-Pickens and Mckenna Rinewalt did some serious damage despite the final result: Evans-Pickens got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Rinewalt scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Rinewalt is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Porter lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Porter's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Santa Fe, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Porter will take on Wylie in a tournament on Saturday. Porter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Wylie's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Santa Fe, they will be taking part in a tournament against Harlan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Harlan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
