Mater Dei had won six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 23-11-2 to make it seven. They had just enough and edged out the Orange Lutheran Lancers 3-2. The Monarchs haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Ben Smith paced Mater Dei's offense, picking up 21 kills. Smith got some help from Jake Newman and his 60 assists. Newman was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.
