Baseball Game Preview: Richland Rams vs. Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers

The Richland Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Richland is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Richland didn't have quite enough to beat Chestnut Ridge and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly two runs.

Kaden Korenoski was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Westmont Hilltop fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Bishop McCort on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Crushers by a score of 4-3. The Hilltoppers have struggled against the Crushers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Justin Ray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Westmont Hilltop saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Goodman, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Westmont Hilltop now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Richland, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Richland skirted past Westmont Hilltop 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
