Baseball Recap: Lower Merion Comes Up Short

Lower Merion fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Springfield on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-3. The Aces were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Lower Merion's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.25 runs. As for Springfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lower Merion will square off against rival Harriton at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Springfield is set to challenge their familiar foe Garnet Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 4.1, the Jaguars 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
