Baseball Game Preview: Frankfort Panthers vs. Grant County Braves

The Frankfort Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Grant County Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grant County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Frankfort, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Frankfort challenged George Rogers Clark on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 10-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Meanwhile, Grant County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 6-0 to Simon Kenton.

Frankfort pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grant County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Frankfort has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grant County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Frankfort came out on top in a nail-biter against Grant County when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
