Volleyball Game Preview: Chequamegon Screaming Eagles vs. Phelps Knights

Chequamegon is a perfect 3-0 against Phelps since August of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Screaming Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 10:00 a.m.

On Thursday, Chequamegon came up short against Phillips and fell 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 16-25, 25-12, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Phelps made easy work of Watersmeet on Monday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Knights have beaten the Nimrods the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Nimrods has come to flipping the script.

Phelps not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Watersmeet between 15 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-15, 25-15.

Phelps' win bumped their record up to 13-21. As for Chequamegon, they now have a losing record of 16-17.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Chequamegon has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Phelps struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Chequamegon beat Phelps 2-0 in their previous meeting back in August. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Screaming Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
