Softball Recap: Casa Grande Drops Highest Score of Season Against Catalina Foothills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Casa Grande). They put the hurt on the Catalina Foothills Falcons with a sharp 31-5 victory on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Olivia Vance was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was MacKayla Wallace, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.

Vance wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Casa Grande lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Casa Grande is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Catalina Foothills is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Casa Grande didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Canyon del Oro on the 24th. As for Catalina Foothills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-3 loss against Mountain View on the 25th.
