Basketball Game Preview: Mar Vista Mariners vs. Bonita Vista Barons

The Mar Vista Mariners will square off against the Bonita Vista Barons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Mar Vista is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Southwest SD just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a blow against the Raiders, falling 89-50. The Mariners were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-18.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bonita Vista). They claimed a resounding 81-38 win over San Ysidro. With the Barons ahead 45-20 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Bonita Vista is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Mar Vista, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-10.

Mar Vista was taken down by Bonita Vista 77-18 in their previous meeting back in December of 2015. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mar Vista was down 54-10.
