Basketball Recap: Green Valley Comes Up Short

Green Valley was the 39-37 winner over Lee Williams when they last played one another on Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Green Valley Gators were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 23-22 to the Lee Williams Volunteers.

Despite the defeat, Green Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tabitha Bwakamba posted two points and eight rebounds. Bwakamba has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Even though they lost, Green Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Green Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Lee Williams, they moved to 3-10 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Green Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-26 loss against Las Vegas on the 28th. As for Lee Williams, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mingus at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Mingus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
