Softball Recap: Northeastern Takes a Loss

Northeastern had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it four. They lost 8-0 to the Fairbanks Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jets of the 11-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Fairbanks, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-1. Considering they have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Fairbanks' part, Northeastern's batters probably weren't too happy with Macy Kise, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up three walks).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyah Hendren, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jenna Dee, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

While Northeastern had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
