Southern came tearing into Wednesday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the South Charleston Black Eagles an 8-0 shutout. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Southern pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games.
