Baseball Recap: Trumann Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Armorel, Trumann was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the East Poinsett County Warriors 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Peyton Chaffin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jace Bennett, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Passmore, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Trumann's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for East Poinsett County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trumann will challenge Lonoke at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Trumann's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for East Poinsett County, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Bay at 12:00 p.m. Bay has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.57 runs per game on average), something East Poinsett County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
