The team relied heavily on Cain Weber, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Culver Academies and Tippecanoe Valley had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Eagles blew past the Vikings 18-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Jak Chaney spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Trey Schumacher was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Grube, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Culver Academies kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in eight consecutive contests.
Knox is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Culver Academies, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Knox has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Culver Academies struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
