Football Recap: Wekiva Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Friday just wasn't the day for Wekiva's offense. They had to suffer through a 52-0 loss at the hands of the Horizon Hawks. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mustangs came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Hawks are ranked 276th).

Horizon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaio Oliveira, who rushed for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 63 receiving yards and one score. Oliveira showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 54 yards. Jared Visser was another key signal caller, throwing for 92 yards and three TDs.

Wekiva dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Horizon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wekiva will host Eustis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Horizon, they will square off against Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Hawks' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
