Basketball Game Preview: Taylor Wildcats vs. St. John Lutheran Saints

The Taylor Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the St. John Lutheran Saints at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Taylor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.

Taylor will bounce into Friday's match after beating Crescent City, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Taylor managed a 66-61 victory over Crescent City on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 35-35 at the break, but the Wildcats were the better team in the second half.

James Thomas was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Zachery McKinnon was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 15 points and five blocks.

Taylor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 21 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, St. John Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-49 heartbreaker at the hands of Redeemer Christian.

Taylor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for St. John Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.
