Football Recap: Arleta's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Arleta can now relate to. They took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Fernando Tigers on Friday. The Mustangs lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in November of 2017, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-0 score last time.

San Fernando had a senior duo take command as Andrew Newchurch rushed for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries and Melvin Pineda gained 144 total yards and a touchdown. Newchurch got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 70 yards.

The loss snapped Arleta's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-4 record. As for San Fernando, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Arleta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Fernando, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-8 victory against Marshall on the 21st.
