Mountain View and Milpitas are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Milpitas' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mountain View gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pacific Grove, sneaking past 5-4.

Mountain View's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leilani Tanielu, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Maya Buell also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Milpitas didn't have quite enough to beat Homestead last Thursday and fell 6-5. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chloe Cabrera was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Destiny Solis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Milpitas, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-9.

Milpitas' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Mountain View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Milpitas, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Mountain View keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
