Football Game Preview: Appling County Pirates vs. Pierce County Bears + How To Watch

Appling County and Pierce County are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Pierce County will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Appling County extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Pirates breezed past Cook to the tune of 57-27. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jaiden Knight continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 187 yards and five TDs on only 14 carries. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Knight was just one part of a punishing run game: Appling County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 463 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pierce County humbled Tattnall County with a 42-7 victory. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Warriors are ranked 350th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pierce County's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Appling County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Appling County beat Pierce County 13-6 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
