Recap: Sunlake Seahawks vs. Land O' Lakes Gators
The Sunlake Seahawks lost against the Land O' Lakes Gators back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Sunlake fell 58-51 to Land O' Lakes. Sunlake has struggled against Land O' Lakes recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Sunlake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was mackenzie medrano, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawn Figueroa, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Sunlake's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-6. As for Land O' Lakes, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sunlake will take on Pasco at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pasco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Sunlake is ranked 229th). As for Land O' Lakes, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Wesley Chapel at 7:30 p.m.
