Football Recap: Platte Canyon Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Platte Canyon extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 36-12 to the Ellicott Thunderhawks. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Colton Shirley threw for 52 yards on two of nine attempts. Ty Cole was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards.

As for Ellicott, the win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Jairus Martin went supernova, rushing for 135 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while also picking up 56 receiving yards and one score. Another back making a difference was Trevonte Phillips, who rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.

Platte Canyon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Colorado Springs Christian at 1:00 p.m. on the 27th. As for Ellicott, they will head out on the road to face off against Center at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
