There's no place like home for Colerain, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hamilton Big Blue an 8-0 shutout on Monday. The Cardinals were shut out 1-0 the last time they took on the Big Blue, so the Cardinals were just returning the favor.

Caleb Hesse was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Hesse was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Colerain let Devin Moeung and Craig Smith run wild. Moeung went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Smith went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in RBI (two).

Colerain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton only posted a batting average of .130.

Colerain is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hamilton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
