Baseball Recap: Tradition Prep Wins Going Away Against Port St. Lucie

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Fork, Tradition Prep was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Port St. Lucie Jaguars get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The match marked the Pirates' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Pablo Almonte was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Tradition Prep is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 1-5 otherwise. Almonte was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aliet Garcia was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Garcia, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Tradition Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tradition Prep's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Port St. Lucie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9-1.

Coincidentally, Tradition Prep and Port St. Lucie will both be playing Centennial the next time they take the field. Port St. Lucie will head out to face Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while Tradition Prep will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on March 25th.
