Baseball Preview: Shadow Ridge Mustangs vs. Arbor View Aggies
The Shadow Ridge Mustangs will face off against the Arbor View Aggies at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Friday, Shadow Ridge sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Legacy. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Skyler Fife looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
On the hitting side, Shadow Ridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyson Rollo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Mason Markowitz also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Arbor View faced Las Vegas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Arbor View sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over Las Vegas. With that victory, the Aggies brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Devin Martin was incredible, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Long, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.
Shadow Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Arbor View, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
