Football Recap: Lake Mary Comes Up Short

Lake Mary suffered their biggest loss since March 14, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 40-0 defeat at the hands of the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas. The Rams' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Emma Corr, who rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.3% of her passes for New Smyrna Beach. The dominant performance gave Corr a new career-high in passing touchdowns. Taylor Vance was Corr's top target, picking up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Lake Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for New Smyrna Beach, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Mary will face off against Lake Brantley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Brantley's defense has only allowed 14.5 points per game this season, so Lake Mary's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for New Smyrna Beach, they will square off against DeLand at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
