Basketball Recap: Hope Academy Beats South Sumter for Their Tenth Straight Win

Hope Academy entered their tilt with South Sumter on Saturday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They enjoyed a cozy 72-55 win over the South Sumter Raiders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-64 on December 4th.

Hope Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Willie Griggs led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 13 points, 11 boards, and ten blocks. Griggs is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 23 games he's played dating back to last season. Nehemiah Rapael was another key player, putting up 16 points and seven rebounds.

Hope Academy's record now sits at 11-2. As for South Sumter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Hope Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lake Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. South Sumter will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against West Port at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
