Basketball Recap: West Milford Takes a Loss

West Milford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Wayne Valley Indians, falling 65-44. The Highlanders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 65-56.

Wayne Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Veale out in front who went 10-for-17 on his way to 24 points and six boards. Those 24 points gave Veale a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Rubino, who went 8-for-18 to rack up 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

West Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Wayne Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Milford will face off against Pompton Lakes at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wayne Valley, they will take on Manchester Regional in a tournament on Saturday. Wayne Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
