Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Valley Indians vs. Passaic Indians

Wayne Valley will head out to challenge Passaic at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Passaic took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wayne Valley, who comes in off a win.

Wayne Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lakeland Regional 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ryan Luzzi and Christian Varano did most of the damage at the plate: Luzzi scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Varano went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave Luzzi a new career-high in RBI (three).

Meanwhile, Passaic came up short against St. Joseph Regional two weeks ago, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their meetings with the Green Knights: they've now lost four in a row.

Wayne Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Passaic in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wayne Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
