Basketball Preview: Panther Creek Catamounts vs. Green Hope Falcons
Panther Creek has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Green Hope Falcons at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Panther Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully the Falcons like a good challenge.
Panther Creek stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 84-45 victory over Apex at home. Given Panther Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Cougars are ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panther Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zy'vaun Puckett led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Logan Ware was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, Green Hope's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 80-47 defeat at the hands of Apex Friendship. That's two games in a row now that Green Hope has lost by exactly 33 points.
Panther Creek has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Green Hope, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.
Everything came up roses for Panther Creek against the Falcons when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 91-47 win. With Panther Creek ahead 55-27 at the half, the game was all but over already.
