Baseball Recap: Butte Central Catholic Wins High-Profile Game Against Lone Peak

Butte Central Catholic faced Lone Peak in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Maroons narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Big Horns 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Maroons: when they faced off against the Big Horns on Tuesday, they had to take a 11-8 defeat.

Kelton Berger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Gunnar O'Brien was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Trapper Stajcar, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Butte Central Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Lone Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

As of now, neither Butte Central Catholic nor the Big Horns have any future games scheduled.
