Softball Game Preview: Harriman Blue Devils vs. Wartburg Central Bulldogs

Harriman has gone a perfect 8-0 against Wartburg Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blue Devils will face off against the Bulldogs at 7:05 p.m. Harriman will be strutting in after a victory while Wartburg Central will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Harriman made easy work of Concord Christian and carried off a 12-1 win. That looming 12-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Blue Devils yet this season.

Meanwhile, Wartburg Central lost 13-7 to Karns on Friday.

Caleigh Crouch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Edye-Ann Williams, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Harriman and bumps their season record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Wartburg Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Harriman skirted past Wartburg Central 10-9 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
