Softball Recap: Crescent City Raiders vs. First Academy Eagles
Crescent City had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it five. They came up short against the First Academy Eagles, falling 22-6. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
As for First Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.7 runs over those games.
For First Academy's part, they let Ashlyn Neiford and Rebecca Barnett run wild. Neiford fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5, while Barnett went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Neiford is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Mad Myers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Coming up, Crescent City is headed away from home for the first time to challenge West Port at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Wolf Pack have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for First Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Celebration at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
