Softball Game Preview: Upperman Bees vs. White County Warriors

The Upperman Bees will head out to face off against the White County Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Upperman hasn't scored more than a single run for seven games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Upperman came into this matchup off a tough 12-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Livingston Academy by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when White County and Stone Memorial meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. White County won by a run and slipped past Stone Memorial 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 15, 2024.

Mabry Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, White County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Norvell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

White County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Upperman, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Upperman came out on top in a nail-biter against White County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Upperman since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
